Each year PF Chapter 257 has an Annual Banquet to get fellow pheasant hunters and friends in the community to gather in support of our pheasants. Raising money to help the efforts of conservation and habitat that is related to our pheasant population as well as educating those new members and/or youth in why our Pheasants Forever Chapter is important to the sport in our communities. This year's BANQUET was held Saturday April 16th at the Sumner Sportsmen's Club. STAY TUNED FOR INFORMATION OF 2023 BANQUET AS SOON AS PLANS BECOME FIRM.
Every year, usually in the Fall, our Puget Sound Chapter #257 participates with WDFW in Youth wildlife and habitat education, hunter training, and a hunt at JBLM (Joint Base Lewis/McChord). Hunter education instructors, hunting mentors, pheasant releasers, hunting dog handlers/trainers, barbeque cooks, servers and WDFW volunteers make this a weekend of memories for both youth and their parents.
Please join us Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 9AM at the Brown Farm. The WDFW is providing us with 200 potted shrubs for this project. Bring your shovel, appetite and energy so that we can get them into the ground. The Brown Farm is located off HWY 26, mile marker 5-6 at the top of the hill as you come up from the Columbia River. Look for the Pheasants Forever Sign off to your right. Puget Sound Pheasants Forever Chapter #257 has two major habitat projects we are working on with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The first is near Royal City (Area 392), the Brown Farm, where we have and are working with WDFW planting both cover and food, installed seven separate irrigation systems and repair/winterize/activate them each year. Our second major project is 96 acres of key land (formerly the Knott Farm) that we purchased which now connects State Land (Revere Wildlife Area) with BLM land near the town of Revere. These connecting 96 acres were deeded to Washington State (in perpetuum) in 2019. During November last year, Puget Sound Chapter PF #257 members working with the WA State Biologist and WDFW personnel, planted over 2,000 bushes and shrubs completing phase 1 of this project which will enhance the natural nesting cover and provide a food plot.
All Youth receive Hands-On Hunter Training and Shotgun Safety.
Join us for our monthly meetings. The Puget Sound Chapter would like to invite all members to attend these meetings. We discuss local habitat projects, youth events, Annual Banquet or other items related to Pheasants Forever and our local community in Washington. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month. Social hour and dinner starts at 6pm with the meeting begins at 7pm. We are currently looking for meeting sites that are able to accommodate us. Please monitor this website for upcoming meeting locations.
While we all like to have fun in the field and chase pheasants for miles, safety is the most important aspect. We promote and encourage hunter safety in the field. Hunter education classes show both youth and adults the proper way to hold, maneuver and practice proper gun care. We at PF Chapter 257 believe it is essential for kids to become familiar with gun operation and be comfortable with handling their firearm. A Hunter Education Class is scheduled for ___________. Contact Bill Ostrander (253-847-3979) for more details.
Forming bonds and friendships in the field, all in the efforts of conservation. From time to time, we have members getting together as a group to hunt or just go to the skeet range for practice. Check our collection of photos, from the photos of our members in the field, to our Chapter events and hunts. All our Chapter group photos can be found here. Even a few photos of our favorite hunting companions chasing some birds.
